Windows Phone 8 new features

Windows Phone 8 is a major change in thinking for Microsoft. This is the first time that Microsoft’s mobile platform will share both its kernel & user-interface with that of a Desktop. It means you will have the same experience on your Desktop and on your smartphone. In addition, developers don’t have to specialize in App development for Windows Phone. That is, apps developed for Windows 8 will work on Windows Phone 8 and since Windows is the most widespread OS out there, we can be sure about a huge inflow of apps to the Windows Phone marketplace.

The key changes in windows phone 8 are :

Dual-core Processors:As Microsoft has relaxed the hardware restraints on Windows Phone 8 and is allowing support for multiple cores on Windows Phone for the first time. However Nokia has yet to state which chips it will be using in its next-gen Windows Phone devices.
Screen resolution: Windows Phone 8 will offer support for up to three different screen resolutions, adding 1280 x 768 and 1280 x 720 to the already 480 x 800 pixels. This is great news as it means we'll be able to watch video and view images in higher definitions.
Start screen: One of the few things we've actually seen of Windows Phone 8 is the new Start screen, which uses the full width of the smartphone screen, so you'll be able to pin more of your favourite apps, websites and feeds to the Start Screen. Along with this the Tile sizes we're set to get a smaller square, which is approximately a fourth the size of the square tile. This new smaller tile is perfect for those apps you like to have on your home screen but don't necessarily use that often;Hence you'll be able to personalise your nokia LUMIA by choosing what size you want the tile to be.Further more the start screen images ive seen till now also show that an array of colours is also introduced so that  you can further customise the colour of homescreen tiles.

SD cards: Nokia Lumia smartphones have always come with plenty of internal storage but Windows Phone 8 allows for external storage to be added. It's not been confirmed the capacity of cards supported but are expected to be well in line with the latest cutting-edge developments!
Near Field Communication (NFC): NFC for those who have not seen it, is a wireless technology that allows devices to communicate simply by touching each other. It is a perfect tool for quick sharing and transfer of data.Nokia being a great supporter of NFC is introducing its hardware in windows phone 8 devices.

Internet Explorer 10: Internet Explorer 10 will be the most advanced browser yet.it's the same browser as you'll find on Windows 8 so you'll be able to have the same experience on mobile as you will desktop.

Apps: With over 100,000 apps already on the Windows Phone Marketplace and a brand new SDK giving developers hands on tools to make the most of the new platform, there will be no shortage of apps in the coming months
Built for business: Enterprise capabilities such as encryption, app management and Company Hub are also set to come to Windows Phone 8, making the platform better focussed for the professional user.
