Windows 8 reached RTM stage two weeks ago. On august 15 developers on MSDN will have their hands on this latest OS. Suggestion is that Microsoft will be updating the OS faster than they did before. Here is a statement from Microsft on building Windows 8 blog:
"Windows RT software will not be sold or distributed independent of a new Windows RT PC, just as you would expect from a consumer electronics device that relies on unique and integrated pairings of hardware and software. Over the useful lifetime of the PC, the provided software will be serviced and improved." (Full post here)
If this rumour were true then it would mean a major break with updating policy from Microsoft. WinRT is functionally still a long way from complete, a series of rapid updates could do much to fill in the gaps.
