MS Office finally supports ODF, Open XML, and PDF formats

 

After years, Microsoft office will finally support Open Document Format (ODF), Adobe;s PDF, and Microsoft’s own Open XML document standard.

Good news for OpenOffice users.

In a blog post on Monday, Jim Thatcher, Principal Program Manager Lead for Office Standards announced that office 2013 will support ODF, Open XML and PDF formats.

The following table shows the evolution of file format support in the last few versions of office.

MS Office on iPad, via cloud

 

InstallFree Nexus is a new service through which you can access MS office apps on your iPad without installing it. Microsoft says there will NO new features in Mac suite for Office 365

 

Subscribers of Microsoft Office 365 will be able to download a copy of office suite for Mac, but there will be no new features apart from bug fixes, unlike office for windows which will shift to office 2013.

"Office for Mac 14.3 will enable subscriptions, and some bug fixes will be included. But the real thing to the addition [to Office for Mac 2011] is that it will work with Office 365," Brian Holt, a senior product manager for the Mac suite, said in a recent interview

"Historically, Office for Mac is updated several months following the release of a new Office on Windows," said Jevon Sark, senior marketing manager for Office for Mac.
